Designed by Benjamin Henry Latrobe in 1820, this Ionic capital was part of twelve columns of the Baltimore Exchange. In 1902, it moved to the old Court of Appeals Building in Annapolis, and more recently was placed before the Miller Senate Office Building.

    Baltimore built the first monument to honor George Washington, designed by architect Robert Mills and completed in 1829. Mills later designed the Washington Monument in the nation's capital.
