ORIGIN & FUNCTIONS

For nominations made by the Governor for appointments that require Senate advice and consent, the Committee reviews and interviews gubernatorial nominees. The Committee then reports its recommendations on those nominations to the Senate, which subsequently votes to confirm or reject the nominees (Const., Art. II, secs. 10-15; Code State Government Article, secs. 2-1103 through 2-1105).

The Committee consists of nineteen members (Senate Rules 18, 22A-22D).
