Report to Senate Budget & Taxation Committee & House Appropriations Committee due Sept. 20, 2020 (Chapters 618 & 619, Acts of 2020).
In June 2018, the Task Force on the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority was formed (Chapter 789, Acts of 2018). In May 2020, the Task Force was reestablished to complete its work (Chapters 618 & 619, Acts of 2020).
The Task Force was to determine how to alter the powers of the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority, an independent agency of State government, to align the mission and purpose of the Canal Place Heritage Area with that of other certified heritage areas. Further, the Task Force will consider various options for disposing of Authority assets, and whether the Authority should be restructured as a State agency.
Authorization for the Task Force originally ended August 31, 2019. After its reestablishment, authorization is set to expire June 30, 2021 (Chapters 618 & 619, Acts of 2020).
