Attended Kent County High School, Worton, Maryland; Chesapeake College; Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy; National Sheriffs' Institute. 2nd Vice-President, Maryland Sheriffs' Association, 2014- (member, 1994-; board of directors; 3rd vice-president, 2013-14; past president); National Sheriffs' Association (traffic safety committee). Member, Kent County Adolescent Substance Abuse Coalition.
